When you think life as a teen is bringing
you (as Jim Morrison of the Doors so sagely
sang) "Strange Days" read these insights from
an OHS Graduate and realize that you are not alone, you have choices
to make, consequences to face, and yes you too can graduate and
successfully walk the path of life you choose. Life is an adventure
for sure. Think before you act and act with compassion - not anger
and hate.
Are you There God?? It's me -A high school senior by

(Excerpts from article published in the OHS The Anchor 6-1-09)
"Never in my life have I felt so many different paroxysms
of different emotions - graduation, moving out, moving in, SAT's,
research projects, family issues, health issues, new environments,
new experiences, new traumas, new dramas. Never in my life have
I been so close to achieving the one goal I have had for the past
four years. Getting out of OHS. Get to San Francisco (college)
and prove to myself that I can be a responsible adult. Prove to
myself that I don't need an authority figure barking down my neck
to be productive. And it's not so much the congregation of misfits,
punks, emos, stoners, and weridos that bother me, as the unintended
consequences of grouping 2400 kids together, for seven hours a
day, five days a week, 36 weeks a year, for FOUR years. The insecurity,
the pressure, the cliques, the naivety and defensive nature of
any teen amidst the apex of puberty. It becomes - overwhelming,
it becomes incapacitating, it becomes - a monkey on your back
that renders you unable to perceive life clearly."
